I came to a stop in traffic Saturday and noticed the guy behind me swerve to avoid hitting my rear. Idiot tailgater, I thought. It was only later that I realized my brake lights were out. Argh! I checked the fuses and they seemed fine, but I replaced the brake light one anyway. Voila! Hopefully now I can avoid getting rear ended… and arrested.
I drove from RI. to PA. with dead taillights when I brought my 240 home. FYI, the bulb out sensor/light doesn’t work if both lights are out.
Strange you didn’t get a light in the dash. I always know when any lights are out because there is a bulb failure relay under the dash. It’s about a $60 part, but almost free from the junk yard.
I’d had problems before and the dash relay always works. I assumed I didn’t have anymore problems after I swapped all the bulbs out. It looks like it was just the fuse, I hope.
I also shoved a piece of cardboard behind the spare tire. The spare would move a lot and bump the bulbs, causing bad connections. Hope this fixes it all.
Hi Seth:
You should change all your wagon’s tail light bulbs to LED’s with smd’s (1156, 1157)found in Ebay. No more failures or burnt socket bases. Mine work just great, no more heat or melting.
