Troubleshooting Overdrive

4301S

Finally pulled the glovebox out and checked the Overdrive Relay switch. It looks fine but, after trying Art Benstein’s test of the current at the relay, it didn’t give a response. I’ve read that the circuit boards often need to be resoldered, so I’m thinking I need to bust it open and check, before springing $43 for the part.

You should be able to jumper from the hot to the pin where it sends current and test it that way no?

If nothing else just go for a M47 ;) Will make your car a whole different animal!

I’ll let you know how the M47 in the new to me 244 compares to the AW70 in my 245. That said, heat all the posts on the circuit board up, being careful not to flow the solder onto another terminal, and you should be good to go, for a number of years at least.
